What is bakhoor?
Bakhoor is wood chips and resin soaked in fragrant oils. Warmed over charcoal, it releases scent slowly, filling a room with warmth rather than spray. Across the Muslim world it is how homes are prepared for guests, for prayer, and for rest.
How long does a set last?
Each piece of charcoal burns for roughly 45 to 60 minutes, and a small piece of bakhoor goes a long way. Used a few evenings a week, the six samples in the set carry you through weeks of rituals.
How long does delivery take?
Orders are packed and shipped across South Africa. Main centres usually receive their order within 2 to 4 working days, outlying areas a little longer.
Is bakhoor safe to use at home?
Yes, with simple care. Burn it in a well-ventilated space, use the tongs when handling charcoal, keep the burner away from children while it is hot, and let everything cool before you pack it away. The burner is a heat-resistant stone composite with a removable metal cup.
