Sakinah App Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 September 2026
In short
Sakinah shows your masjid's times, plays live adhan and radio, and connects to Sakinah devices. We keep what you share with us to run the app and make it better. We do not sell it, show adverts, or use outside trackers.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, or the account you use to sign in with Apple or Google.
- What you tell us: your name and area, if you give them, and the masjids and devices you add.
- What you save: your masjids, Quran bookmarks, prayer log and settings, so they follow you to a new phone.
- How you use the app: the screens you open, what you listen to and the alerts you set, so we can improve it.
- Notifications: if you allow them, a token so we can send your alerts.
Your exact location stays on your phone. To find masjids near you, we use only a rough area and do not keep it.
Who we share it with
No one, except the service providers that run the app for us, such as hosting, sign-in and notifications. They may only use it to provide those services.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account. Deleting your account in the app deletes your information with it.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete your information, or object to how we use it. Write to care@sakinah.co.za. You may also contact the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Children
The app is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
